The Throat Chakra
This month we are going to look at the Throat Chakra.
The Throat Chakra is the 5th Chakra the communication centre of the body. Its Sanskrit name is Vishuddha which means ‘Pure or purification’ and sits in the throat area near the spine. It governs the mouth, tongue and neck. It also governs the ability to speak your truth openly and understand your needs and desires and being able to communicate them. It is the seat of self-expression and can be viewed as a crossroads of the heart and the head serving as a mediator between your emotions. It signifies both verbal and non-verbal communication as well as internal and external communication. Speaking your truth isn’t something that comes easily but speaking your truth doesn’t mean you can be hurtful or critical. Speaking your truth from the heart will come across as kind and compassionate. Listening is another aspect of the throat chakra and the highest form of listening includes giving the other person your full attention waiting to hear them completely before you respond and not interrupting them as they express themselves. It also means putting away devices or turning them off to give them your undivided attention.
