The root and sacral chakras are closely linked to our sexuality so learning to improve and master our sexuality can awaken, activate and strengthen these chakras
Many of us tend to store our emotions in our hips which is the natural part of our fight or flight stress response. Each time we feel threatened or have a stress reaction, we respond by tensing up in this area or by making ourselves small or running away to protect ourselves. So practising hip openers in yoga is a great way to release tension.
Since the sacral chakra element is water, getting outside and relaxing near natural water spots can help open it. The sea, lakes, rivers, streams are all useful. If possible go for a wade or dangle your feet in the water to help the energy flow. Taking a bath or a shower also has an effect whilst providing the relaxation needed to keep your emotions flowing. Why not turn it into a mini spa? Indulge yourself. You deserve it!
