I’ve spoken in the past about coconut oil and how great it is and seeing it’s Summer here in the UK, I know some of you may be thinking of eating and drinking more healthier and you know I love to share healthy organic tips to support your health and well-being now and again. So here are some benefits of raw organic green coconut water that you may want to consider.⁣

The first time I had young green coconut water is when I was in Antigua it was like nectar and one of the best natural beverages I’ve ever tasted it was so tasty and very refreshing. ⁣

The fat content in coconut water is very low so you can drink as much as you like without worrying about putting on extra weight infact, coconut water helps suppress the appetite and keeps you full for a very long time because of it’s rich content.⁣

Perfect Skin

Want perfect skin? Drink coconut water! It’s very good for treating acne and also good for rosacea, eczema, stretch marks, dermatitis, dry skin and clearing blemishes. You can also topically apply it to the skin as a skin toner to the affected areas and it will help clear and restore your skin. It also moisturises the skin from within and actually help the body rid large amounts of unwanted oil. That’s why when you use products that contain coconut they are a lot more effective.⁣

It’s also a great hangover cure (yep! I’ve been there!) next time you over do it and drink more than you plan to drink, drink some coconut water to settle your stomach and replace the essential electrolytes that you’ve lost through frequent urination and vomiting.

Supports Digestion

Coconut water helps with digestion as it contains a high concentration of fibre and aids prevention of indigestion and reduces acid reflux. It’s a great alternative in smoothies as cow’s milk or alternative milk mixed with fruit or vegetables isn’t good for your digestive system as fruits digest quicker than vegetables resulting in hindering the digestion of the vegetables. Milk mixed with fruit may not curdle straight away but will start curdling in the stomach and start to ferment resulting in gas and bloating and other digestive problems. ⁣

Always mix fruit with fruit and vegetables with vegetables never mix the two and always eat melon on it’s own.⁣

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Coconut is so much more effective in hydrating the body than any energy or sports drink. The body loses a lot of mineral rich fluids during exercise. It contains 249mg of potassium and 5mg of natural sugar. The sodium content is only 25mg which is quite low compared to 41 and 20mg that is found in sports and energy drinks. ⁣

Did you know that high blood pressure is a result of unbalanced proportion of electrolytes within the body? Coconut water contains an adequate supply to help balance it. It’s recommended to consume it in the morning. ⁣

Coconut water contains essential electrolytes that are present in the human body. They are calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and sodium. Because of it’s unique composition, it can be enjoyed by people who suffer with medical conditions but do take caution if you suffer with high potassium levels and blood pressure problems and check with your doctor to make sure it’s safe to take. ⁣

It’s also compatible with human blood as it’s isotonic to human plasma so in extreme emergency cases, it’s used quickly to hydrate a person if administered intravenously. ⁣

Coconut water that come from young green coconuts (7-8 months old) comes out clear but over time it turns pink due to oxidation an indication of the products purity.
