I don’t have to tell you that last year was so challenging for all of us and we are still facing challenges whilst we are easing out of this 3rd lockdown here in the UK. The best thing we can do for ourselves is to keep on working on boosting our state of being. Remember the mind-body connection. Your immunity is connected with your mental health as well as the stomach (our second brain) and now is a perfect time to restart any physical/mental activity you’ve been putting off.
Always listen to your body and remember to trust that we will get through this phase in our lives and try to divert fearful thoughts into positive and compassionate ones as what we think, we become.
Try and Reduce Stress
I know it can be easier said than done, but try and stay positive, find hope, forgiveness and gratitude. Mindset is very important. Stress can lead to opting for the wrong foods and in turn brings about depression, anxiety, memory problems and insomnia. Stress makes it really hard for the body to resist germs and viruses too.
Treat Yourself Right
Have you ever come across people who seem to be always upbeat no matter what life throws at them? These sort of people most likely have discovered that being grateful for the things they have and what makes them happy in life and use whatever it is to their advantage.
Being consciously aware of what you’re thankful for really changes your level of happiness and your overall perception of life. Self-care, self-love, compassion for others and gratitude are the most important things right now.
Stay Hydrated
Staying hydrated is the quickest and easiest way to boost your state of being. Giving you clarity of mind and proper mind/body function all depends on how much water we consume in a day. Without adequate amounts of water in the body, the electrical system is impaired. The lymph system and organ function doesn’t work to its full capacity. So drink up!
Mindful Breathing
The action of inhaling and exhaling has a massive impact on our overall health yet so many of us don’t do it properly. Think about your breath right now. How is it? Is it long or short? Deep or shallow? Fast or slow? Chances are that you might not be breathing in a way that maximises your body’s ability to deliver oxygen to the lungs.
When you practice mindful breathing it helps reduce stress and anxiety, your heart rate will lower and your blood pressure will decrease and you will notice you have an increased stamina for intense exercise, improved sleep, better posture and many other benefits.
